5 Things I loved about Chicago

“So last month I went to Chicago for the first time, it is a city I had been wanting to visit for quite a long time so I was pretty excited about it”

Even though I was there for a complete week I felt like it was definitely not enough time to explore all the things Chicago has to offer. I would love coming back soon and visit the places I missed, especially the ones that are not so touristic.  I will briefly tell you some details about my stay and then I will share with you my 5 favorite things about Chicago.

So we stayed at the Langham Hotel, which was recently awarded as USA #1 hotel, it has perfect location, was very nice, elegant and the service beyond excellent. I would really recommend it if you are looking for a stylish option to pamper yourself. As it was our first time visiting this city we went to the most popular and touristic places, you know the ones that are recommended on every city guide and stuff: Millennium Park, Skydeck, Navy Pier, Shedd Aquarium, the Art Institute, Museum of Science and Industry, etc. Now, I will share with you the top 5 things I loved.

1. Its Architecture and Skyline:

Seriously I was amazed by how beautiful the buildings are. We went on a tour called Architecture River Cruise that showed us the most important buildings in the city with a brief explanation about their architecture. I feel I could not get tired of just contemplating how beautiful and different from each other they are.

2. The Signature Room at the 95th

What is better than enjoying a delicious dinner while you witness a beautiful sunset or the lights of the city at night? This restaurant in the 95th floor of the Hancock Tower was definitely a highlight of my trip. It is perfect to celebrate a birthday or have a very romantic dinner.

3. Restaurants and Food

Well if you keep up with my Instagram this is no surprise to you. I absolutely love eating out, discovering new places and trying different dishes. Chicago definitely has a lot of excellent restaurants with great gastronomic offers that vary from breakfast to fancy dinners. One of my favorite restaurants was a place called Kanela that had the most delicious french toast and oatmeal; and of course another favorite was The Signature Room in the 95th listed above. Oh, and of course you can’t miss a dip dish pizza from Giordano’s!

4. Museums

Its funny how I used to hate them when I was a child but now I actually enjoy them, and Chicago definitely has some great museums. Whether you are an art lover or a science fanatic, you will most probably find at least one (I’m sure more than one) that will be worth your visit. I personally loved the Art Institute and the Field Museum, especially an exhibition dedicated to tatoos.

5. Skydeck at Willis Tower

Yes I know, another observatory deck, but I absolutely love them. The city view is spectacular plus it has some glass balconies that are great spots for an amazing photo! I know the waiting line can take hours but if you buy the CityPass you will be up in no more than 20 minutes so it’s totally worth it. Being this high makes me think about how big the world is and how small we are compared to it.

 The City Itself

This may sound a little ambiguous but I couldn’t find a better way to say it. I loved Chicago as a whole, not only because of its beautiful architecture, beautiful river walk, amazing skyline, delicious restaurants or its different museums. I loved it because it is a city that is very much alive, yet not as noisy and crowded as others like NYC. I think it is a place that holds a lot more to discover and where you can find the right amount of adventure and fun but still have the chance to relax and calm down.
